A lesson I learned last year is that we set the energy and tone of our day depending on how we start the day. The key is finding and creating healthy habits that will stay with you. Not just what the doctor ordered daily for the planet but instead learning to customize choices that will work with you and linger for the long run.

My Morning Cup of Soul Therapy

My personalized daily rituals include praying before getting up from the bed. Pretty much, I say thank you for the blessings of waking up to a new day. Coldwater in the shower. Opening the windows to welcome the light. Kitchen habits: The first thing is a glass of warm water mixed with Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar and half a lemon to alkaline the body before coffee and a fresh green juice. The juice is a mix of cucumber, green apple, celery, spinach, chia, flaxseed, orange, and lemon. Then later, ten minutes with my favorite meditation videos. Following twenty minutes of morning yoga. Listening to my favorite songs or Podcasts while I get dressed and prepare myself for the day. I call this daily waking up ritual “My Morning Cup of Soul Therapy” because it feels precious and valuable to gift myself with this time alone in the early morning lights before facing the world.

My Best Glass is for Turmeric

Turmeric mix with orange juice is my morning fix. I gave up alcohol forever. It’s a shame that we can’t find this on a restaurant’s menu. This is for sure a “kryptonite” against our modern diet full of GMOs. Last year, I developed the morning habit of alkalinizing my body first thing in the morning. Drinking a glass of warm water with two spoons of apple cider vinegar – or lemon – and drank that as a ritual. I’m not allowed to see sunlight or speak to fellow humans without having my reviving drink. Not joking. Recently, after researching all the amazing benefits, I started adding a spoon of turmeric powder as well. My waking up alkalinizing water mix involves water, lemon, and turmeric. I still don’t get along with the taste. Even so, I do it.

I’m now using my favorite wine glass to drink my alkalinize water. I made the decision of using my prettiest glasses after I compared wine versus a healthy drink. Alcohol: can cause inflammation of the liver, increase blood pressure, damaged heart muscle, disrupt the sleep pattern, lead to weight gain and cloud judgment. Versus turmeric: benefits of being an anti-inflammatory that helps with chronic pain, lower blood glucose level, inhibits cancer cell growth, anti-aging, improves the texture of the skin, improves the brain, increases memory, anti-depressant and anti-coagulant.

Yoga Inside My Stomach

Smoothies are the best way to apologize to our bodies for all the toxicity we put them through on a daily basis. It provides a mixture of organic yoga and meditation inside my stomach. Ha! The ingredients below should be prepared as a shot of self-appreciation for everything that we are about to create and what we yet need to become. Everything we need is inside us -or in our kitchen. I used to think that the star of the kitchen was the stove. After getting sick a couple of years ago and educating myself on recovering and naturally healing my body. I discovered that the blender is the real rock star and doctor in the kitchen. It could transform a garden of green veggies and colorful fruits into a glass of awesomeness, self-love, body respect, secret miracles, and cell repair weapon. Do you recognize a Superhero? Maybe the blender is the secret fountain of youth. Perhaps, we might be able to prevent our own extinction just one glass each day. Below is the recipe for my daily smoothie. *Warning: You might smile more and feel as if you now carry a superhero Cape on your back after drinking this elixir. Ha!

Feeding our bodies with the right nutrition is awesome but how about our spirituality and soul? How about to stay away from feeding our souls with envy, anger, jealousy, resentment and negative energy? What will it happen? The same thing that tends to occur inside your physical body for sure; it will become a rotten soul. It’s necessary for us to walk around with the hands-on top of our hearts. Protecting our hearts and minds from all the “junk vibes” and pessimism around us and we must start by cleaning and wiping everything inside that for many years have been dusty and damaging, and once the cleaning is in process then we are responsible for feeding our souls with new gestures, smiles, love, laugh, faith and grow.

Improving your spirituality will give you the power to overcome any needed changes. According to statistics, stroke is the number two killer around the globe. Young Professional Adults are rising among the new statistics due to the modern lifestyle. Stroke is being called the “silent killer” and is no longer discriminating age or gender. Check your blood pressure and cardiac rhythm. Find ways to relax and slow your lifestyle. Avoid excessive caffeine and processed food. Embracing our spirituality is also a preventive measurement. Surround yourself with positive souls, it will keep your heart and mind healthy and add years to your life. Do activities that bring joy and keep you happy (best preventive medicine ever!). Overall, you are the ONLY one responsible for your body and well-being. Keep your cardiac rhythm emotionally and physically stable. Take good care of yourself.

I remember the first time I tried meditation. It was a couple of years ago and I was convinced that I was going to become an expert on the subject. I mean, the list of positive benefits of meditating is never-ending and I needed them in my life. I usually walk around life looking calm on the outside but with an emotional hurricane inside. I desperately needed to find a way to sabotage my habits and direct them into an excellent practice like meditation. I dislike political correct disciplines unless they come in creative ways. For example, my new career in Web Design. It’s a job but the difference now is that is a job that I love and make me work with my creativity.

Back to meditation, there were days when I was bored to death. Clearly, I wasn’t doing real meditation and didn’t understand how mediation works. My determination to learn and grow moved me to buy some of those mobile apps which help you control your breathing and stay calm. Again, a complete waste of my money. I attended my first meditation class in the city at a famous Buddha center and that didn’t work either. I almost fell asleep in class. But my stubborn lefty self-didn’t give up. I searched under “Youtube University.” and I discovered a yoga vlogger who was incredible, funny and humble in the way she teaches to be determined and calm the mind. It was like having a close friend teaching me that meditation is simple. Meditation is the PRESENT. That’s it. And that’s when the magic happened.

It took me several tries but the moment it happened it changed everything and I was able to do it from the comfort of my home. It became easy and thought me to show up to me daily. To sit down, pause life and breath. No thinking about the past. No daydreaming about the future. Just the moment and my breathing.

  1. Wow, your morning routine totally trumps mine! Very impressive. Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

    • I should add that I learned the hard way. I got sick once by neglecting my health. Therefore, I have two options: making an effort on staying healthy (not always easy) or risking falling ill again. I will eat and do whatever it takes to stay naturally healthy. Thanks for your comment.

    • Thank you for your beautiful comment. Turmeric plus Apple Cider Vinegar taste terrible but give it a try, the benefits are wonderful. The key is not to do a lot at the beginning. One regular spoon of ACV and one teaspoon of turmeric. It is great for the metabolism and to alkaline your blood system. I do it before coffee in the mornings.

  3. Great tips! Having a daily ritual that uplifts you and makes you remain positive during the rest of the day is super important. I love that you start your morning ritual with being grateful! People forget how to thank for their blessings

  9. I love your morning ritual! I too just recently started doing apple cider vinegar in water with lemon to balance the alkaline levels in my body before pumping coffee in. I really need to get better about making a time for the spiritual routine as well, though. You’re right, our souls need attention just like our bodies!

  10. Morning rituals are the best! But mine are indulgent. I watch the news, catch up on social media or write while I drink my latte. I love mornings!

  11. I need to drink smoothies more often. While I’ve gotten better with eating more fruit, I still feel I need more. Thanks for the options.

  12. First. I love your blog. Secondly this is such a great routine. I definitely need to start incorporating a morning routine. Sometimes I’m just happy if I roll out of bed when my alarm goes off.

My soul is happy right now being seen. Back to water and lemon first thing. I used to do this. Don’t know why I stopped. I truly felt clean and caring and selflove as I sipped it. Giving the soul her space to stretch and be cared for is the best for all of us humans!
